Where to Apply for Each Visa Type
For Non-Immigrant O Visas, apply within Thailand
For Non-Immigrant O-A and O-X Visas, apply at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate in your home country
Eligibility for All Visas
- Age 50+
- Clear record for entry to Thailand
- No criminal history in Thailand or home country
- Application from the same country
- Free from specific diseases
- Not allowed to work in Thailand
Basic Requirements for All Visas
- Valid passport (with at least six months of validity and two blank pages)
- Completed visa forms, fee, and photos
Evidence of family relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate) if applicable
Health insurance
Non-Immigrant Visa O visa applicants do not have to carry insurance coverage currently, but they are strongly encouraged to maintain valid insurance for medical reasons throughout their entire stay.
Non-Immigrant Visa O-A visa applicants must carry insurance coverage for the duration of their stay for Outpatient and Inpatient Treatment of no less than 3,000,000 baht. or 100,000 USD.
Non-Immigrant Visa O-X visa applicants must carry insurance coverage for the duration of their stay for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 baht.
Important notes
For O-A and O-X Visas
A medical certificate is required declaring that you are free from specific diseases, Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis and third phase of Syphilis.
O-X visas are limited to passport holders from specific countries: Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada, and United States
Financial Requirements for the O and O-A Visas
Certified bank statement showing a deposit of at least 800,000 Baht or proof of monthly income of 65,000 Baht held in a bank for no less than twelve months (contact us to learn more)
Letter of guarantee from the Thai bank if submitting bank statement
Financial Requirements for the O-X Visa
Must have a bank deposit of no less than 3 million baht in Thailand or a bank deposit of no less than 1.8 million baht and annual income of no less than 1.2 million baht.
Important Note on financial requirements
All bank documents must be certified, and maintenance of amounts, source, etc. are dependent on everyone.
Immigration Officers have varied discretion to verify income sources as well as request additional verification, and deny applications without offering a reason.

The O Visa does not currently require health insurance coverage
